윤곤강 시의 감각과 반근대 의식

윤곤강 시에 관한 연구의 범주가 꾸준히 확장되고 있지만, 감각에 관한 논의는 전혀 이루어지지 않았다. 본고는 이 점에 주목하여 그의 시에 드러난 감각의 발현 양상과 그 의미를 밝히는 데 목적을 두었다. 윤곤강은 그의 시와 시론에서 근대성이나 문명에 대한 비판적 인식을 꾸준히 드러내었다. 초기시의 죽음 이미지나 동물 표상은 그 대표적 예라 할 수 있다. 감각 또한 이러한 저항의 한 방편으로 운용되고 있으며, 세계를 변혁하고자 하는 실천적 의지와도 긴밀하게 연결되어 있다는 특징을 보인다. 의지가 강할수록 감각은 활성화되고 반대의 경우 감각은 차갑게 식거나 죽음과 같은 무감각의 상태가 되는 양상이 이를 증명한다. 그러므로 절망적 현실에서 위축된 자아가 의지를 고양하기 위해서는 감각을 일깨워야 했을 것이고 윤곤강의 시에서는 그러한 노력 의 흔적을 확인할 수 있다. 윤곤강 시에는 감각 중에서도 청각이 상대적으로 큰 비중을 차지하고 중요한 의미를 전달하는 매개로 작용한다는 특징이 있다. 청각적 요소는 삶에 육박해 들어온 근대적 일상과 그에 대한 회의감을 표출하는 주요 감각으로 작용할 뿐 아니라 서정적 동일성을 이루는 매개로도 기능한다. 이는 윤곤강이 의미를 발현하는 데 있어 청각적 이미지를 중요하게 생각했다는 뜻인데, 근대가 이성에 의해 감각이 지배되는 시공간이자 감각 중에서는 시각이 중심이 되는 세계임을 상기할 때, 윤곤강의 청각에 대한 감수성은 거스를 수 없는 막강한 근대의 흐름 속에서 통합과 유대의 서정적 동일성을 구현하는 나름의 고유한 방식이었던 것으로 볼 수 있다. 윤곤강 시에 드러난 감각을 살핌으로써, 일반적으로 받아들여지고 있는 ‘절망적 현실에 대한 격정적 토로’라는 윤곤강 초기시의 특징이 실은 비이성적 비문명적 속성들을 통해 근대에 대한 저항의 의지를 드러내고 있는 것이었음을 밝혔다는 데 의의를 둔다.

The scope of research on Yoon Gon-gang's poetry is steadily expanding, but there has been no discussion about senses at all. The purpose of this article is to reveal the pattern of expression and meaning of the senses revealed in Yoon Gon-gang's poetry. Yoon Gon-gang consistently revealed his critical awareness of modernity and civilization in his poetry and poetic theory. Images of death and animal representations in early poetry can be said to be representative examples. Senses are also used as a means of resistance. It is also closely connected to the practical will to transform the world. This is proven by the fact that the stronger the will, the more activated the senses are, but in the opposite case, the senses become cold or numb. Therefore, in order for the shrinking ego to strengthen its will in a hopeless reality, it would have had to awaken its senses. Such efforts are revealed in Yoon Gon-gang's poetry. Among the senses, hearing plays a relatively large role in Yoon Gon-gang's poetry. Auditory elements serve as the main sense expressing modern daily life and skepticism about it. It also functions as a medium to achieve lyrical identity. This means that Yoon Gon-gang considered auditory images important in expressing meaning. Yoon Gon-gang's sensitivity to hearing was his own unique way of embodying the lyrical identity of unity and solidarity in the powerful, unstoppable flow of modernity. The significance of this study is that it revealed that the characteristic of Yoon Gon-gang's early poetry, which is ‘a passionate outpouring of a generally accepted hopeless reality,’ was to reveal the will to resist modernity through irrational and uncivilized attributes.
