Both English native speakers and Korean English learners took part in the production and perception experiments. In the production test, Korean English learners exhibited smaller difference of F0 and larger duration of pause, compared with native English speakers. On the other hand, in the perception test, Korean English learners marked low percentage of correctness in F0-manipulated sentences rather than in the duration signals. It means that Korean English learners have problems in both perceiving and producing the appropriate F0 contour in the non-terminal phrases. The results suggest that (1) L2 developmental patterns of production and perception clearly have been influenced by L1 system, and (2) both production and perception in L2 might develop together.
