영작문 사전쓰기에서의 모국어 사용효과

The Effect of using L1 on English Prewriting

This study aims to examine the effect of English and Korean prewriting or English only prewriting on college students’ writing phases. 28 university students wrote six essays during the semester, among which the first and last essays were analyzed for the study. The participants’ writings were measured holistically and quantitatively to examine whether the writing quality had improved. Statistically, differences were found between English and Korean prewriting and English prewriting in the holistic measurement. In regard to fluency and grammatical complexity, no differences were found between the two different groups in the number of sentences and the number of T-units. Thus, it may be inferred that Korean and English prewriting is more effective way in the holistical aspect in order to improve students’ writing in EFL context.
