유아의 영어수준이 모국어 수준 및 영어경험과 상관이 있는가?

Are there any relations between young children‘s English proficiency and their Korean proficiency and experience of learning English?

This study aims to investigate the relationships between English proficiency and Korean proficiency and experience of learning English in Korean young children. One hundred thirteen 5-year-olds and eighty seven parents participated in this study. In order to assess the children‘s Korean proficiency, Korean Phonemic․Word․Syntactic Perception Test(Han Yoomi 1998), and Korean Pronunciation Test (developed for this study) were used. For English proficiency, English Phonemic Perception Test(Ricciardelli, L. A. ,1993), English Word․Syntactic Perception Test and English Pronunciation Test(developed for this study) were used. The data for children‘s experience of learning English were collected through parental questionaire. As results, Korean children‘s English proficiency is positively related to their Korean proficiency. However English proficiency is not related to their prior experience of learning English.
