Developing Items and Analyzing Relative Weight on Evaluating Korean Language Lecture for Foreign Students: Taking the Chinese Foreign Student as a Subject

Developing lecture evaluation areas and evaluation items on Korean language lecture for foreign students, this study calculated relative weight on each area and item. For the purpose of the study, research on full-time lecturers, part-time lecturers of Korean language education and foreign students was carried out. The results of the study can be summarized into the followings. First, 5 evaluation areas and 10 evaluation items has selected as the result of validity analysis. Each area was classified into ‘readiness‘, ‘class‘, ‘usage‘, ‘question and answer‘, and ‘evaluation‘, and the result of analyzing reliability on the items consisting of each area indicated that reliability in every area was confirmed showing as from .684 to .916, also overall reliability was high to the extent of .959. Second, the result of analyzing relative weight on lecture evaluation areas and items showed that ‘usage‘ was .26, ‘question and answer‘ was .25, and ‘class management‘ was .24, which represented high relative weight. Items which showed high relative weight in major area were that ‘Vocabulary which a lecturer uses was helpful to understand learning contents in ‘usage‘ area, ‘A lecturer has sincerely answered to a student‘s questions‘ in ‘question and answer‘ area, ‘A lecturer‘s explanation was easily understood‘ in ‘class management‘ area. As the result of this study has focussed on how much lecturers tried to let learners understand learning contents, it requires that lecturers should make efforts to let foreign students understand in order to improve academic satisfaction through evaluating Korean language classes offered to foreign students.
