한국어 교육에서의 읽기․쓰기 통합 교육 연구

A Research on the Integrated Reading and Writing Teaching Method for KFL (Korean as a Foreign Language) Learners

The purpose of this study is to present the significance of the integrated reading and writing teaching method in KFL(Korean as a Foreign Language) teaching and to grope for some efficient strategies in using this method. In the first part, the theoretical background of this method has been explored. Traditionally, reading and writing in KFL have been taught separately under the categories of comprehension area and expression area. However, reading and writing can be integrated in Korean class in terms of the “meaning-making process” of cognitivism and social constructivism. Reading and writing need to be integrated by teachers' deliberate plans and be taught as a whole in classroom. Through the integrated reading and writing method, learners of KFL can learn Korean in real-life situations and improve their communication skills in the areas of reading and writing simultaneously. In order to accomplish this goal, applicable teaching models need to be prepared: For instance, imitating reading materials in writing; using reading materials for further creative writing; and employing reading materials as contents.
