This paper aims to clarify the relationship between nominal (copula) predicate sentences and adjectival predicate sentences in Korean. Adjectival predicate represents the property of the subject. On the other hand, nominal predicate represents identity statements and predicate statements. But, the nominal predicate sentences have the meaning and function of the property, nominal predicate sentences are related with adjectival predicate sentences. This is the reason why this paper aims to study the relationship between nominal predicate sentences and adjectival predicate sentences. Korean adjectival sentences are expressed not only with adjectives but also with nominal predicates, with ‘noun+ida’ and ‘noun+jek+ida’ expressions. The insufficiency of the adjectival expression could be filled by nominal (copula) expression. It is common that the nominal predicate sentences show the property in typological perspectives.
