In general, Korean students who study in abroad encounter communication problems. Intercultural differences are one of the main causes of the communication problems. In this study, I attempt to try group depth interview to eleven Korean interchange students who study in spanish speaking countries (Spain, Chile, Mexico and Peru). And I analyze what kind of cultural factors make them have difficulty in everyday communication. According to results, first, based on the fact that where a student learns Spanish, students tend to have difficulty in learning language in lexical, idiomatic, phonological, grammatical and pragmatic levels. Second, I find that Korean students are shocked by hispanic culture such as machismo, racism, and openness of sex culture in family, friend groups and social communities, because those cultures are quite different from confucian-based Korean culture. Finally, the result of group dept interview shows that the role of international center for foreign students is important for reducing the culture shock and solving the communication problems.
