The purpose of this paper is to search for an appropriate support plan and a specific course on Korean language and culture education for overseas adoptees. Firstly, the study examined the present support conditions of Korean language and culture education for overseas adoptees, and considered the short-term homeland visit programs being supported mainly by the government or adoption organizations as well as the commissioned education programs carried out by several universities. The study then analyzed a survey conducted on people who are in charge of organizations dealing with overseas adoptees, and based on the results, proposed the development of specialized instructional materials for overseas adoptees. Lastly, it proposed directions for the overseas adoptees support organizations and the Korean language education systems to carry out as follows: 1) Various activities held by many Korea’s adoption protection organizations must be unified. 2) The considerations must be given to some European adoptees who could become isolated. 3) The overseas adoptees must be fostered fully to become a people of Korea as an asset. 4) The age of supported adoptees needs to be lowered and the support should be given according to age. 5) Korean language education in Korean language education organizations needs to become long-term and the scope of support needs to be expanded.
