This study suggests a pedagogical method of Korean particle ‘ka’ and ‘nun’ for the intermediate and advanced learners who study Korean as a foreign language. In Korean language education, only some limited meaning of ‘ka’ and ‘nun’ is introduced at the beginners' stage, and then their actual usage is just showed but not clearly explained at the advanced stage. To propose a systematic and clear explanation of ‘ka’ and ‘nun’ according to the learners' mother language, especially English in this study, the Korean-English’s parallel corpus of ‘ka’ and ‘nun’ and English articles was researched. As a result, semantic tier is discussed first, the syntactic tier second, and the pragmatic tier is considered last. This principle of ‘ka’ and ‘nun’ is reflected in the particle selection model that was made in this study, and its value was tested by the experiment that Korean learners took part in. The particle selection model is expected to be used in Korean language education.
