This paper aims to take an overview of research patterns and changes found in the error analysis research in Korean education over the past 20 years since 1984. This study analysed about 123 journal articles and dissertations related to research on error analysis in Korean education. They were classified under four variables: chronology, learner’s first language, topic, type of research. Based on the results, we suggest new directions for future error analysis research in Korean education. In further study we will also try to collect and systematize research data of error analysis and contrastive analysis, interlanguage in Korean education.
