In Korean language education, as most researchers agree, instructor training isn’t actively researched even though it is an imperatively important field. Until recently, studies about instructors focused on instructor certification. Practical studies in various methods of training instructors lacked attention. This studyanalyzed training results of the “Re-education Program for Korean Language Teachers Teaching in China” held from 2003 to 2005, commissioned by The Korea Foundation. It examined the contents of the re-education program for Korean language teachers in China through analyzing a needs assessment covering 73 professors from 24 different universities over a three-year period. Although the result is not statistically meaningful, the study shows that teachers from the Han race prefer to learn about teaching methods and strategies, while teachers from the Korean race want to focus on theory-centered classes like Korean linguistics and general linguistics. In addition, it showed that most professors agreed on the benefits of visiting and seeing actual Korean classes and witnessing their circumstances and teaching methods. Many expressed interest in learning about Korean language-related subjects. (Kyung Hee University)
