Teaching Methods of Polysemic Word for Korean Vocabulary Education

This paper discusses teaching methods that effectively explain the meaning of polysemic words in teaching Korean vocabulary. It shows teaching contents, methods and learning models using the verb 'Boda (to see)'. First, it analyzes the dictionary meaning of 'Boda' and compares it with its homonyms, idiomatic phrases, collocation which can be discussed in relation to polysemic words. Second, it analyzes Korean language textbooks and examine the content of polysemic words education and teaching methods through the survey. Third, it presents lists to use for teaching polysemic words. It shows the several meanings of 'Boda' and the order of meaning derivation in the dictionary. Then it examines the frequency of use and co-occurrence structure with each polysemic word by utilizing corpus. Through this, it obtains information about the relation of combination before or after the ploysemic words. Additionally, it demonstrates a suggested order for learning them by considering the degree of difficulty and presenting example sentences. Lastly, it presents concrete teaching methods and content by levels of ploysemic words and offers a learning model, a teaching plan and an assessment paper.
