고급 단계 한국어 학습자를 위한 토론 수업 방안

An Approach to Teaching Discussion Class for the Advanced Learners of Korean Language

This study aims to suggest that teaching discussion class for the advanced Korean language learners should be lead to Process-Oriented instruction. Discussion skills are widely needed for from the beginners through the advanced learners of Korean language in the both of KGP (Korean for General Purposes) courses and KAP (Korean for Academic Purposes) courses. However, the reality of teaching discussion skills in Korean language education has depended on teacher's experiences due to the lack of research on the class organization and material development. This paper is divided into 6 sections including preface and conclusion. In section 2, I explain what is the role of discussion class in teaching speaking, It would be helpful for the construction of discussion class in Korean language education. In section 3, I present that the linguistic ability, discussion strategy and willingness of the learners, topics of discussion and leadings by teachers are important elements to organize effective discussion class. In section 4, I discuss the problems of present situation about teaching discussion skills in Korean language education through reviewing the Korean language textbooks. In section 5, I present a sample model of teaching materials for discussion class, and also show the Process-Oriented instruction composed with 3 steps (pre-discussion, discussion and post-discussion).
