日本에서의 韓語 敎育과 敎材에 대한 槪觀

Glimpse (Quick Look) on Korean Language Education and course book in Japan

Since Choson began to make an exchange with Japan after Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592, Susima(對馬島) has been the only official passage to communicate Choson with Japan. In modern period, Korean language education has been usually tried in Susima. According to the historical materials related with exchange relation between Choson and Japan, it is said that the language education was already carried out in Silla dynasty. However, a full-scale Korean language education began at the Izuhara Training Institute of Interpreter in Susima in the eighteenth century. When Tongshinsa(a news agency) visited Japan, almost fifty interpreters were accompanied with them. The training of interpreters in Susima was conducted in a descent merchant family where the father educated his son. Amenomori-Hoshu(雨森芳洲) was engaged in the compilation of Korean language textbook at Choryang Wae-Gwan as a confucian scholar in Susima from in 1689 when the trade interchange between Choson and Japan was prosperous. In 1727, he applied himself to build Training Institute of Interpreter called Han-eo-sa at Izuhara. When Mejii(明治) government began to control the diplomatic intercourse with Choson, the training of Korean language interpreters was taken in charge by Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In October, 1872, Mejii government installed Han-eo-hak-so at Kwangcheongsa(光淸寺), Izuhara as the first Korean language center. This center moved to Choryangkongkwan(草梁公館) at Busan next year, in October, 1873 and was renamed as Choryanggwan Eohakso(草梁館 語學所) under the command of Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In Japan, under the modern educational system, Korean language as a second language was educated at the Korean language department of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies in 1880 for the first time. Recently, the wave of Korean culture brings about a new Korean language education in Japan and lots of Japanese students come to Korea to learn Korean language. The learning methodology and lessons in stages proposed by Amenomori -Hoshu offers many suggestions as to current Korean language education.
