The purpose of this paper is to review the current trends and research results of Bilingualism and to consider of the necessity of bilingual education for the overseas Korean children, It is the fact that there is almost no country which doesn't do foreign language education. And bilingual education is activated at least to some extent in every country. Especially the matter of bilingual education is academically actively studied in many countries and more than five hundred books about bilingualism and bilingual education have been published in the Multilingual Matters publishing Company. Current bilingual education tend to be changed to enrichment type since 1990's. That is, the philosophy of 'Multilingualism for all', different from traditional bilingualism which is mainly for minority in a society, seems to be realized. Multilingualism for all means not minority children but main stream children are also given multilingual education to help them to be benefitted from more than two languages. This type of education mainly executed by twa-way bilingual education. Therefore this study argues that overseas Korean children should learn and maintain multilingual ability including Korean Language in order to be more capable and more convenient in their lives by using two or more languages. Because many studies show that bilingual children's achievement and competence appear to be higher than monolingual students in most subjects in school. The Enrichment type of bilingual education, a kind of additive bilingual education strongly suggest that overseas Koreans should be competent not only in their living language but also in Korean Language for their better lives
