One of the main concerns in Second Language Acquisition is to identify what types of phonological processes of L1 interfere in learning L2. This article aims to tell apart the types of phonological processes that cause interference of interphonology and those do not. This paper, further argues that It is difficult to differentiate the two in theories of the Natural Generative Phonology and other similar approaches like the Generative Phonology and the Lexical Phonology. The Interference Principle based on the True Generalization Condition fails to explain the cases of Korean either. This article, based on the examples on the interference of Korean phonological processes to English pronunciation, attempts to find out the proper principles that govern interphonological interference. What is suggested is that phonological processes are divided into P-rules and MP-rules and P-rules into Perceptions ruled and Operative rule. We claim that the processes, which belong to Operative rule undergo interphonological interference.
