현대 국어의 유추적 변화

The Study on Analogical Change of Modern Korean Language

The aim of this paper is to consider the aspect of analogical change in modern Korean. Analogical change is a historical process which projects a generalization from one set of expression to another. Analogical change that can be thought of as economy of memory results in a reduction of the number of exceptional or irregular morphemes. This kind of change has been called internal borrowing-that is, we borrow from one part fo the grammar and apply the rule generally. it may be by analogy to ‘reaped’ that speaker started saying ‘sweeped’ as the past tense of ‘sweep’ instead of the irregular past tense ‘swept’. The traditional view distinguishes two types of analogy, proportional and non-proportional. And The result of the analogical change makes three kind of structral form, addition(curricula→curriculums), deletion(peddler→peddle), replacement (hamburger→cheeseburger). The theory of least effort does seem to account for the analogical change. The analogical change makes the grammar simplify and regularize.
