This study aims at the diachronic investigation for the change of the structures which include Korean transitive verbs used in the 15th century. The aspects of argument formation in the structures of transitive verbs were discussed centering around the ‘NP-ei’ arguments. All the transitive verbs of 15th century, nearly 500 words, were made an object of this work in order to systematically investigate the synchronic aspects of the structures and the change of them in the Modern and contemporary Korean. In addition, most computerized archaic words were made an object of the primary analysis. For the case that ‘NP-ei’ argument is formed in the structure of transitive verbs, the realized θ-roles include location, direction, goal, qualification, result, theme, criterion, agent, beneficiary, and so on. Among these, for the case that the arguments of beneficiary and patient have been changed from ‘NP-lul’ to ‘NP-ei’. it is believed that the functions of ‘NP-ei’ have been differentiated due to the applications for various conditions. As a result of this study, in the structure of ‘NP-i NP-lul V’, the ‘NP-lul’ argument can be realized to the ‘NP-ei’ argument. This implies the verb can be used both as transitive and intransitive verb.
