This study is developed on the focus that meter has relations with various elements of poetic structure, especially in the modern Korean poetry. This study has three theoretical steps. First, we can't find the fixed mode of meter in the Korean poetry. Second, the important factor is not the meter itself, but the function of meter. Finally, if we try to teach the meter, we have to take the new principles and methods which are focused on the function of the meter.
