인공와우 및 보청기를 사용하는 청각장애 학생에 대한 일반 교사의 이해

General Teachers’ Understanding about the Hearing Impaired Students with Cochlear Implant or Hearing Aids

연구목적: 인공와우나 보청기를 착용한 청각장애학생에 대한 기본적인 이해와 고려사항이 교사배경변인에 다라 다른지 알아보는 것이다. 일반학교에서 통합교육을 받는 비율이 증가하고 있으므로, 청각장애학생의 학교생활 지원을 담당하는 일반교사의 인식이 중요하며, 적절한 지원에 대한 교육 자료의 제공에 의의를 둔다. 연구방법: 연구의 목적에 맞는 설문지를 개발하여 일반 초등 및 중등교사 180명에게 배포하여 최종 109명의 응답지를 분석하였다. 설문지 문항 개발의 내용타당도, 구인 타당도 그리고 신뢰도를 확보하기 위해, 3명의 전문가 검증, KMO과 Bartlett 검증, 요인분석 그리고 카이제곱검증을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 인공와우와 보청기에 대한 지식 및 관리, 학교 소음 등 물리적인 환경 조정, 학교 수업활동 등에서 지원에 대한 항목으로 구성하여 결과를 산출하였다. 첫째, 일반교사들은 인공와우나 보청기가 청각장애학생의 청력에 도움을 주는 것으로 알고 있다. 둘째, 보조 장비들의 관리나 학교 소음 조정에 대해서는 잘 모른다고 하였다. 셋째, 수업활동과 학급활동에서도 일반교사들은 자리배치나 말소리를 크게 하는 등의 고려사항은 알고 있다. 넷째, 청각장애 특성과 함께 인공와우나 보청기의 특성을 고려한 수업활동과 야외활동의 지원 사항에 대해서는 모른다고 하였다. 결론: 일반교사의 이해부족이 인공와우나 보청기를 착용한 학생의 통합교육 효과를 줄이는 결과를 가져 올 수 있으므로, 청각장애학생의 특성과 인공와우나 보청기의 특성 및 기능 그리고 일반 교사의 지원 방법을 체계적으로 지도하고 안내할 필요가 있다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate that general teachers’ understanding about the basic knowledge and considerations for the hearing impaired students with cochlear implant or hearing aids is different from the characteristics of teachers. Increasing the ratio of hearing impaired students attending general schools with cochlear implant or hearing aids led our concern into general teachers’ understandings about what to know for supporting their students wearing hearing aids or having cochlear implant and how to support their students. Method: To solve this concern, 180 questionnaires were drew up and distributed to general teachers. Finally, 109 of 133 questionnaires were returned and analyzed. The questionnaires composed of 4 semi-topics; the functions of cochlear implant or hearing aids, environmental noise of general schools, support plan for teaching their students with hearing problems, and the role of a class teacher helping them to better learn and to establish better friendship with classroom mates. Results & Conclusion: The results of this research showed that almost all general teachers have no idea of the 4 topics. A few of general teachers have some knowledge of what to support their students with cochlear implant or hearing aids in general settings and how to support them. In this regard, providing general teachers with resources for teaching and supporting students with cochlear implant or hearing aids through public institutions (e.g. regional support centers for special education) would be more helpful to raise effect of educating hearing impaired students in general settings.
