발달지체영유아 어머니의 양육스트레스가 자녀권리 존중에 미치는 영향

The Effects of Parental Stress on Respecting the Rights of Young Children with Developmental Delays: Focusing on the Mediating Effects of Mother’s Self-Esteem

연구목적: 본 연구는 발달지체영유아 어머니의 양육스트레스가 자아존중감을 매개로 자녀권리 존중에 미치는 영향을 밝히기 위해 수행되었다. 연구방법: 연구목적을 위해 2개 광역시와 5개도에 거주하는 발달지체영유아 어머니 260명을 대상으로 설문조사를 한 자료를 분석하였다. IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0 프로그램을 이용하여 인구사회학적 변인들을 통제한 후 Baron과 Kenny(1986)가 제안한 방법으로 매개효과를 검증하고, Sobel test를 실시하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 발달지체영유아 어머니의 자녀권리 존중은 양육스트레스와 부적 상관관계가 있었으며, 자아존중감과는 정적 상관관계가 있었다. 둘째, 발달지체영유아 어머니의 양육스트레스는 자녀권리 존중에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 발달지체영유아 어머니의 양육스트레스는 자아존중감에 영향을 주는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 넷째, 발달지체영유아 어머니의 자아존중감은 양육스트레스와 자녀권리 존중의 관계를 부분 매개하는 변인으로 확인되었다. 결론: 본 연구 결과에 기초하여 발달지체영유아의 권리 증진을 위해 어머니와 영유아를 지원하기 위한 방안을 논의하였다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze how mothers’ parenting stress effects mothers’ respecting the rights of children with developmental delays. Also, this study aims to shed light on the mediating effects of mothers’ self-esteem on the relations between parenting stress and mothers’ perception. Method: The participants were 260 mothers whose children have developmental delays and they were pooled from the residence in two metropolitan city and five province in Korea. The data were statistically analyzed with a multiple regression analysis. The mediating effects were examined by Baron & Kenny’s statistical medication analysis. Results: First, mothers’ respecting the rights of children has negative relationships with parenting stress, but it has positive relationships with mothers’ self-esteem. Second, parenting stress has effects on mothers’ respecting the rights. Third, parenting stress has effects on their self-esteem. Forth, there is evidence for mothers’ self-esteem is working as mediating variables which mediate the relationships between parenting stress and mothers’ respecting the rights. Conclusions: From the results, practical implications for improving rights of children with developmental delays was suggested.
