고기능 자폐스펙트럼장애 초등학생의 읽기이해력 특성

The Characteristics of Reading Comprehension of Children with High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders

본 연구는 고기능 자폐스펙트럼장애학생의 읽기이해력에 영향을 미치는 하위 변인과의 관계를 알아보고 향후 고기능 자폐스펙트럼장애학생의 읽기이해력 평가 및 중재에 도움이 되는 기초자료를 제공하기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 본 연구의 참여한 대상자는 고기능 자폐스펙트럼장애학생 18명과 언어연령을 일치시킨 일반 학생 18명이었다. 연구결과 자폐스펙트럼장애학생들은 일반학생들에 비해 음독 과제, 작동기억, 어휘를 제외하고는 모든 하위 과제에 있어 일반학생보다 낮은 수행력을 나타내었다. 고기능 자폐스펙트럼장애 초등학생이 일반 학생에 비해 유의하게 낮은 수행을 보인 과제는 구문의미이해력, 문장 따라 말하기, 마음읽기, 듣기이해력, 이야기글 읽기와 설명글이었다. 자폐집단 내 읽기이해력과제에서도 설명글이 이야기글보다 더 나은 수행을 보였다. 읽기이해력의 하위변인별 상관을 살펴본 결과 읽기이해력은 어휘, 구문이해력, 마음읽기, 문장구성하기 및 듣기이해력과 유의미한 상관이 나타났다. 마음읽기는 읽기유창성, 문장구성하기, 문제해결력 및 듣기이해력과 유의미한 상관이 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 고기능 자폐스펙트럼장애학생의 읽기 교육의 방안을 제시하였다.

This study aimed at providing basic data that aids assessments and intervention of students with high functioning autism spectrum disorders by examining characteristics including reading comprehension, decoding, reading fluency, listening comprehension, vocabulary, and so on. The subjects of the study included 18 children with high functioning autism spectrum disorders and 18 children who matched language development with autism spectrum disorders. Children with autism spectrum disorders showed lower performance than normal children in reading comprehension, listening comprehension, theory of mind reading, reading fluency, vocabulary, and syntax understanding. They showed better performance on understanding expository text than narrative text. Reading comprehension showed significant correlations with vocabulary, syntax understanding, theory of mind reading, word ordering skills, problem solving, and listening comprehension. Theory of mind reading showed significant correlations with reading fluency, word ordering skills, problem solving, and listening comprehension. The results of the present study can be used as basic data which could aid in the assessment and intervention of students with high functioning autism spectrum disorders.
