특수교육보조인력으로서 공익근무요원의 특수교육지원 경험 및 지원 요구 고찰

A Qualitative Inquiry on Special Education Experiences and Support Needs of Public Service Workers as Special Education Paraprofessional

장애아동의 통합교육 질 향상과 중도․중복장애 학생의 교수지원 등을 위한 공익근무요원의 역할이 중요하게 다루어지고 있다. 그러나 상대적으로 이들은 별로 관심을 받지 못하여왔다. 본 연구에서는 특수교육보조인력으로서 공익근무요원의 특수교육지원 경험을 알아보기 위하여, 서울시 및 인천광역시 내 학교 및 복지관의 공익근무요원 총 11명을 대상으로 면담 등 다양한 질적 자료를 활용하고 지속적 비교법을 통하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 이들의 특수교육지원 경험은 총 5개 대 주제(업무/역할, 지원/지지, 고충/불만, 경험의 질, 지원요구)와 13개의 하위 주제로 도출되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 병무청, 학교 관리자, 학교 문화, 교육청, 개인 측면에서 다음과 같은 지원 요구가 도출되었다.: 전공 관련 배치, 아동에게 초점, 명확한 업무, 존중과 이해, 원활한 의사소통, 실제적 지식/연수, 공익근무요원 개인의 준비.

The purpose of this study was to investigate public service workers(PSWs)' special education experiences and support needs, as special education paraprofessional. For this, a total of 11 PSWs were interviewed and constant comparative method were used. As the results, 5 themes (PSW's works/roles, supports/aids, difficulties/complaints, qualities of experience, and support needs) and 13 sub-themes were emerged. Based on the findings, several implications of supporting PSW's work were identified as follows.: Military Manpower Administration considers PSW's speciality; school leaders make concrete work regulations focused on students with disabilities; school personnels build a respectful and communicative culture; Ministry of Education provides practical training related to disabilities; and PSWs prepare their heart. Finally, the implications for applications of and future research on PSWs were discussed.
