장애위험유아의 장애 진단에 관한 어머니의 경험

A Case Study on the Experiences of a Mother with a Young Child at Risk for a Disability Diagnosis Process

본 연구는 장애위험유아의 어머니를 대상으로 장애 진단 전, 진단 중, 진단 후의 경험을 살펴보고, 이 과정 중 어머니의 심리상태는 어떠했는지 그리고 어떻게 적응해 나가는지를 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구를 위해 연구 참여에 동의한 장애위험유아의 어머니 1명을 대상으로 개별적인 심층면담을 실시하였으며, 질적 연구 분석방법에 따라 분석하였다. 연구문제1의 장애 진단과정 시기별에 대한 연구 결과는 첫째, 장애 진단 전의 어머니 경험으로 1)또래들과의 차이로 인한 진단의 시작 2)소개 또는 검색을 통한 진단기관의 선정 3)진단에 대한 두려움으로 나타났다. 둘째, 병원에서 진단 중의 경험은 1)진단과정의 불만족 2)진단기관들 간의 다른 결과 3)자녀의 교육 및 치료에 대한 조언 미흡으로 나타났다. 셋째, 진단 후의 경험은 1)충격과 상실감 2)양육 및 교육태도의 변화 3)도움요청이다. 연구문제2의 어머니 심리상태 및 적응에 대한 연구 결과로 나타난 방어기제는 자기로의 전향, 투사, 부정, 반동형성 그리고 동일시이다. 위와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 장애 진단과정의 문제점과 개선방안을 제안하였고, 장애위험유아 어머니의 긍정적 심리 적응 방향을 제시하였다.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the experiences of a mother with a young child at risk for a disability diagnosis process and examine their psychological status and adaptations. The study conducted interviews with a mother with a young child at risk and analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study were as follows. First, the mother started to have a diagnosis due to the child's differences with peers, selected diagnosis agencies by searching the internet or recommendation, and had fear for the process. Second, the mother was not satisfied on the process, received different results from different diagnosis institutions, and had little information about the child's future education and treatment. Finally, the mother had shock and sense of loss, felt attitude change for the child's education, and requested support after the diagnosis. Regarding the psychological status and adaptations of the mother, she employed such defense mechanisms as turning against self, projection, denial, reaction formation, and identification. Based on the results of the study, it was suggested to provide an appropriate diagnosis process and positive psychological adaptation for a mother with a young child at risk.
