농인의 종교적 신념과 종교 활동에 관한 연구

A study of religious belief and activities of the people with hearing impairment: Qualitative study of centering on christian religion

농인은 자기 방어기제가 강하여 쉽게 자신을 드러내지 않으려한다. 농인의 이러한 성향으로 인해 자신들만 있을 때에는 활발하게 소통을 하지만, 청인을 접하였을 때는 부적응 행동을 보이는 경향을 띤다. 의사소통장애로 인하여 원만한 인간관계가 어려우므로 가치관의 왜곡과 정서적 면에까지 영향을 미치게 된다. 이들에게 내적 성장과 심리적 안정을 찾을 있는 방법 중의 하나가 종교 활동을 하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 농인의 종교 활동에 있어서의 종교 활동의 동기와 믿음의 정도, 농인의 종교 활동 실태를 통한 종교 활동에 대한 것을 알아보고, 농인이 종교 활동을 원만하게 할 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 세 가지 방법으로 연구가 이루어졌다. 첫째는 농인의 종교 활동과 관련된 연구논문과 관련 서적을 통한 문헌분석이다. 둘째는 질문지를 통한 심층 면담이다. 셋째는 첫 번째와 두 번째에 얻어진 자료를 통하여 보충할 수 있는 농교회에 직접 참여하여 관찰하는 방법을 채택하였다. M시와 P시에 거주하는 농인 8명을 대상으로 연구하였다. 연구의 결과는 농인의 종교 활동과 청인의 종교 활동과는 큰 차이는 없으나 농인은 교제(koinonia))에 종교 활동의 비중이 크다. 청각장애로 인하여 수화로 예배가 이루어지고, 영상매체를 많이 활용한다. 이들에게 올바른 종교관을 심어 줄 목사와 교사의 양성이 절실하며, 다양한 교육 프로그램 개발과 예산 확보가 필요하다.

The people with hearing impairment are reluctant to expose themselves due to strong defense mechanism. The people with hearing impairment feel comfortable in communicating with each other but they are reluctant to deal with the people without hearing impairment. I thought that religious activities could contribute to improving psychological stability and internal growth. This study aims to seek a way that can help the people with hearing impairment to improve psychological stability and internal growth and that can help their religious activities better by understanding motivation for religious activities, the degree of belief and the status of religious activities of the people with hearing impairment. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, the motivation that the people with hearing impairment began to participate in religious activities was various. Some people began to participate in religious activities on the recommendation of family, friends or acquaintances while others began to participate in religious activities voluntarily. In most cases, the people with hearing impairment are faithful to religious activities. The stronger their faith was, the more active their way of thinking became. Second, ①The people with hearing impairment worship by using sign language and audio aids. ②The people with hearing impairment do positive religious activities. In particular, they are faithful to worship God at home and experience God's grace through worship. ③The people with hearing impairment are faithful to making an offering. ④The people with hearing impairment make an effort to understand Bible though they have difficulty in reading it due to physical impairment. ⑤The people with hearing impairment are not active in engaging in mission work. ⑥The people with hearing impairment are not active in participating in family worship. Third, religion plays an important role in improving social integration, psychological stability and quality of life. Religious activities of the people with hearing impairment can help them form and maintain good relationship with others. ①Church plays an important role in making the people with hearing impairment get along with others. Main motivation that the people with hearing impairment attend church was to keep company with others. The people with hearing impairment are keeping company with others by participating in sport activity such as table tennis, bowling and mountain climbing. It is necessary to develop programs that the people with hearing impairment can get together. ②Some people with hearing impairment experience God's love and grace through praise, prayer and preaching others do voluntary work. Most of the people with hearing impairment attend regular worship service which leads them to have positive mind and attitude.
