Analysis on TV Sign Language Broadcasting Interpretation

TV 수화언어 방송통역의 특성을 알아보기 위하여 9편의 공중파 방송의 수화언어 방송통역을 분석대상으로 양적․질적 분석을 실시하였다. 청인 수화통역사가 평정한 수화언어 방송통역의 평균 통역률은 80%였고;농인이 평정한 통역률은 78%였다. 통역사 간 통역률의 유의한 차이가 있어 통역사에 따라 다양한 통역률 차이를 보였다. 청인 수화통역사와 농인 모두 시사․상식 프로그램이 뉴스 프로그램보다 통역률이 높다고 평정하였고;농인이 청인 수화통역사보다 수화언어 방송통역의 통역률이 낮다고 평정하였다. 이는 TV 수화언어 방송통역의 통역률을 제고할 필요가 있다는 점과 방송국에서는 뉴스 프로그램의 수화통역사를 선정할 때에는 뉴스 프로그램 수화언어 통역의 어려움을 고려하여 좀 더 신중한 수화통역사 선정이 필요한 점;수화언어 방송통역의 수요자인 농인 입장에서의 통역 수준 향상 필요성을 시사한다. 또한 수화언어 방송통역의 질적 분석 결과;단어 수준에서는 생략;첨가;대치;왜곡;수정;도치가 발견되었으며;가장 출현이 많은 유형은 생략과 왜곡 유형이었다. 구나 절 수준에서는 생략;대치;도치가 발견되었으며;수화언어 방송통역사는 수화언어의 공간적 특성과 의역을 통역 상황에서 활용하는 것이 제한되며 직역을 많이 활용하였다. 이는 수화언어 방송통역의 특성을 감안한 다양한 통역 기법 훈련과 통역 모니터의 필요성을 시사한다.

This research made quantitative and qualitative analysis of TV broadcasting interpretations on 9 broadcastings to know the characteristics of sign language broadcasting interpretation. The average accuracy that sign language interpreter rated was 80% and the deaf rated was 78%. There was meaningful differences between interpreters in interpretation accuracy. Sign language interpreters and deaf rated that interpretation accuracy of current event & commonsense program higher than interpretation accuracy of news program;and deaf rated that accuracy of sign language broadcasting interpretation is more lower than hearing sign language interpreters. This shows that it is necessary to strengthen the broadcasting sign language interpreters' interpretation skills;and to decrease individual differences of broadcasting interpreters. The results of qualitative analysis of sign language broadcasting interpretation are omission;addition;substitution;distortion;inversion and modification at word level and most frequencies are omission and distortion. There are omission;substitution and distortion at phrase or clause level. Special training for sign language broadcasting interpretation and interpreter monitors are necessary because broadcasting interpreters have difficulties of maximizing the grammar of sign language using space due to literal than liberal translation.
