Learning Activity and School Life of Students with Disabilities

본 연구는 장애아동⋅청소년의 학습활동 및 학교생활에 관한 실태와 교사들의 인식을 살펴봄으로써 장애아동⋅청소년의 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위한 측면에서의 교육지원 방안에 대한 기초자료를 제시한다는 데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 특수학교와 특수학급에 근무하는 초⋅중등 특수교사(n=305)를 대상으로 설문지를 이용하여 분석한 결과, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 주로 사용하고 있는 교육과정은 기본교육과정이었고 사회영역에 가장 중점을 둔 지도가 이루어지고 있었다. 교과와 관련하여서는 사회적응능력 향상을 목표로 하는 현장학습과 체험학습을 가장 중요하다고 생각하는 만큼 그에 대한 선호도도 높았던 반면 학생들의 낮은 인지능력과 많은 학습내용, 그리고 시험에 대한 부담감을 안고 있는 과학과 수학은 지도하기 어려운 교과로 인식하고 있었다. 한편 치료교육활동에 대한 요구가 많았으며, 이는 치료지원센터 및 병원과의 기관 간 연계체제 구축의 요구로 나타났다. 둘째, 교수-학습활동에 관한 전반적인 인식은 보통 수준이었지만 많은 교사들이 스스로 학급의 장애아동을 애정을 가지고 지도하고 있다고 생각하고 있었다. 한편 하위 문항 중 ‘장애아동 스스로 교수-학습활동을 선택할 수 있는지’에 대한 문항에서는 근무장소에 따른 차이를 보였는데, 특수학교 초등부 교사와 특수학급 중등부 교사가 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었고 ‘교수-학습활동 중 문제행동을 보이는지’에 대한 문항에 있어서는 특수학교 초등부 교사와 특수학급 중등부 교사가 ‘아니다’라고 응답해 긍정적으로 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

This study is to explore educational supports for improving quality of life of students with disabilities through their teachers' perception on condition in learning and school life of them. The subjects were 305 special education teachers who were working at special classroom in regular school or special education school in elementary and secondary. The results were as follows. First, teachers were perceived that they usually make use of the basic curriculum, put more emphasis on social part. Also they preferred the field trip and real-life experience for improving social adaptation ability, whereas they perceived science and math as a difficult subject because of the burden of testing, load of learning, students' lower cognitive ability. Above this, it was high demands on therapeutic education, this was a demand on linkage system between therapeutic support center and hospital. Second, the perception on instruction-learning activity was general level, but many teachers had thought that they had loving with their students with disability. whereas there were difference in teachers' perception according to working place, on sub question “students with special needs can have choice instructional learning activity by themselves disability”. That is special classroom teachers more positive on the above question than teachers in special education school. Besides, special classroom teachers answered 'no' on the item, “do they act out problematic behaviors?”
