현장교육실습 기간 중 특수교육전공 교육실습생들의 주된 경험에 관한 연구

A Study on Special Education Practice Teacher's Major Experiences During the Teaching Practicum

본 연구는 예비특수교사들의 실습 일기를 통해 특수교사 양성 대학에서 4학년 학생을 대상으로 4주간 실시하고 있는 현장교육실습 기간 중 있었던 이들의 주된 경험에 대해 살펴봄으로써, 우수교원 양성을 위한 기초 정보를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2010년 5월 한 달 동안 현장교육실습을 경험한 경남 소재 모대학교 초등특수교육과 4학년 39명을 대상으로 실습 기간 동안 무형식의 실습 일기를 작성하게 했으며, 이를 분석하였다. 연구결과를 간략히 요약하면, 현장교육실습 동안 예비특수교사들은 주로 수업 및 문제행동과 관련된 경험을 했던 것으로 나타났다. 수업과 관련한 구체적인 하위 경험으로는 동기 유발, 발문, 수업시간 배분, 학생들의 참여 유도 방법 그리고 연구수업에 관한 것 등이었다. 문제행동과 관련한 하위 경험으로는 문제행동에 대처하는 방법과 현직 교사들의 문제행동 대처 방법에 대한 회의감 등이었다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 교육실습생들의 경험이 교직과 교사의 자질에 대해 반성해 보는 계기를 제공하는 긍정적 측면도 갖고 있지만 동시에 이론과 실제의 괴리, 자신의 역량 등에 대해 부정적으로 작용할 수 있는 역기능도 갖고 있음을 다시 한 번 주지시켜 준다. 이에 교육실습생들의 고민을 토대로 현장교육실습의 긍정적 기능은 보다 극대화시키고 부정적 측면의 기능은 최소화하기 위한 방안이 모색되어야 하는바, 교육실습기관의 사전 선정 및 유기적 관계 형성, 교육실습의 준비과정 및 사후교육을 교육과정에 포함하는 것이 필요함을 재확인할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate major experiences of practice teachers during a 4 week's teaching practicum for senior students in an university training future special education teachers, so that it may provide information to train excellent teachers. For this purpose, 39 senior students in the department of elementary special education at an university located in Gyeongnam province were asked to write an informal practice journal during the month of May when they experienced the teaching practicum, and the data from the journals were analyzed interpretatively. The results were as follows. The practice teachers experience about class teaching and behavior modification during the teaching practicum. Detailed experiences regarding class teaching included motivation, introductory remarks, dividing teaching time, deriving student's participation, and open classes. Experience about behavior modification were method of using behavior modification and skepticism of in-service teacher's use of behavior modification. The results of this study inform us that the experiences of practice teachers not only provide a chance to reflect on teaching profession and teacher's qualification, but it also has adverse effect of focusing on the gap between the theory and practice and of acting negatively on their own ability. The present study implies that the ways should be sought to maximize the positive functions, and to minimize the negative functions of, teaching practicum, on the bases of the worries of practice teachers. It also implies that it is necessary to select practice teaching schools in advance and make close relationships with them and to include advance preparation and ex post education in the curriculum of teaching practice
