이 연구는 초등학교로의 전환을 앞둔 청각장애유아의 부모와 청각장애유아를 교육하고 있는 특수교사들을 대상으로 전환교육에 대한 인식과 요구에 대하여 알아보는 것을 목적으로 실시되었다. 이를 위하여 청각장애유아의 어머니와 특수교사를 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였고, 질적 분석을 통해 연구문제와 관련된 3개의 주제와 10개의 하위 주제가 도출되었다. 면담 자료의 분석 결과 초등학교로의 전환을 앞둔 청각장애아의 부모들은 전환과 관련된 교육프로그램을 지원받은 경험이 거의 없었고, 특수교사들 역시 초등학교로의 전환과 관련된 교육프로그램을 지원해 준 경험이 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 면담 대상자들은 체계적인 전환교육이 청각장애유아가 초등학교로의 전환이후에 사회적 대인관계, 학업성취도, 자신감, 바람직한 정서 발달에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 기대하고 있었고, 청각장애아 부모들이 가지고 있는 초등학교로의 전환에 대한 불안이 감소될 것이라고 보았다. 청각장애아의 초등학교 전환과정에서 부모의 참여, 아동을 보내고 받는 기관 교사들, 아동과 가족에게 지원 서비스를 제공하는 전문가들 간의 협력적인 체계가 효율적인 전환에 중요한 변인이 된다고 강조하였고, 이에 따른 구체적인 전환교육 프로그램의 지원을 요구하고 있다.
This study is to know the recognition and needs for the transition education of the parents of infants with hearing impairments who are under the transition to elementary school and special education instructors who are in charge of infants with hearing impairments. To meet the purpose of this study, a depth interview for mothers and special education instructors was conducted and three subjects and ten sub-subjects for the study were derived through a qualitative analysis. The analysis of interview revealed that the parents of infants with hearing impairments who are under transition to elementary school had few supports of education programs on transition and even special education instructors mentioned the lack of education support programs on transition to elementary school. However, they expected that a systematic transition education will affect on social interactions with other people, scholastic achievement, self-confidence and desirable emotional development positively after their transition to elementary school and also they estimated that parents' uneasiness for the transition will be decreased. It is emphasized that parents' participation and a cooperative system between instructors and professionals who provide infants and their family with support services are important variables.
