아동의 연령과 부모의 사회 경제적 지위에 따른 아동의 음운 처리 능력과 글자지식 특성 연구

A Study of the interaction effect of parent's social economic status and children's age on phonological process ability and letter knowledge in children

본 연구의 목적은 부모의 사회 경제적 지위가 아동들의 연령에 따라 음운 처리 능력 특성에 어떻게 영향을 미치는가를 조사하는 것이다. 연구목적에 따라 소득 수준이 상이한 세 지역을 선정하여 그 지역의 어린이집에 다니는 전체 유아들을 대상으로 본 연구자가 자작한 음운처리능력 검사 도구를 사용하여 유아들의 음운 인식 능력, 음운 기억 능력, 글자 지식 능력, 자소-음소 대응 규칙 지식 능력을 측정하였다. 검사는 개별적으로 이루어졌으며 점수는 원점수를 그대로 통계 분석에 사용하였다. 아동의 연령과 아동 부모의 사회 경제적 지위 집단을 독립 변인으로 하고 각각의 음운 처리 능력 하위 검사 총점을 종속 변인으로 하여 이원 변량 분석 방법을 사용하였고 집단간의 차이를 확인하기 위하여 Scheffe‘ 다중 분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 부모의 사회 경제적 지위는 아동의 음운 처리 능력 발달에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 또한 아동의 연령도 음운처리 수행능력에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서의 중요한 함의는 부모의 사회 경제적 지위가 아동의 연령에 따라 다르게 아동의 음운 처리 능력에 영향을 미친다는 것이다. 즉 부모의 사회 경제적 지위는 아동들의 연령이 증가할수록 더 크게 영향을 미치는데 이것은 아동의 연령이 증가될수록 부모의 사회 경제적 지위에 따른 환경의 영향이 누적되어 아동의 발달에 영향을 미치는 것으로 해석해 볼 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the interactional effect of parent's economic status and children's age on phonological process ability in children. Phonological process ability includes phonological awareness, phonological memory, letter knowledge, and sound and letter correspondence knowledge. Results were following. Children's phonological process ability was different according to their parent's social economical status and their age. The kids from poor neighborhood have poor phonological process ability while the children from rich environment have higher phonological process ability when they get old. That is, parent's economic status has different effect on children's phonological process ability according to their age. The effect of SES on phonological process ability is different in 3years old kids and in 4 years old children and in 5 years old children. This means that parents' social economical status can account for some of individual variation of phonological process ability in accordance with their age.
