청각장애 중학생과 일반 중학생의 학습기술 비교

A Comparison of Learning Skills between Hearing Impaired and Nondisabled Adolescents

청각장애학생의 학업성취 수준은 일반학생에 비해 낮은 것으로 밝혀지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 학업성취 수준과의 상관성이 입증된 학습기술 사용 수준에 대해 청각장애 중학생과 일반 중학생 간의 차이가 있는지 여부를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구결과, 청각장애 중학생은 일반 학생에 비해 전체 학습기술 사용 점수가 낮은 것으로 나타났으며, 학습기술의 하위 영역 중 과제해결 기술과 읽기 기술, 시험처치 기술의 사용 수준에서 일반 학생과 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 반면 청각장애 중학생의 자기관리 기술이나 수업참여 기술, 쓰기 기술, 정보처리 기술은 일반 중학생과 별 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 청각장애 중학생들의 배경변인인 성별, 학년별, 청력손실도 및 청각보조기구 사용여부에 따른 학습기술 전체 또는 하위영역별 점수에 있어서는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과에 비추어 볼 때 청각장애 중학생들에게 상대적으로 취약한 학습기술영역에 대한 지도가 필요하며, 이들의 특성을 고려한 학습기술프로그램의 개발이 시급함을 알 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to compare the performance levels of learning skills between hearing impaired and nondisabled adolescents. The subjects are 42 hearing impaired students in the special middle schools and 296 nondisabled students in the middle school. The Learning Skills Test(LST, Byun & Kim, 2002) is used to identify the performance of learning skills of each group. Results are as follows: First, there is a statistically significant difference in the performance levels of learning skills between hearing impaired and nondisabled adolescents. Especially, the performance levels of hearing impaired adolescents are lower than those of nondisabled adolescents in the sub-areas like problem-solving skills, reading skills, test-taking skills. Second, the variables such as sex, grade level, hearing level, and the kinds of hearing-technical aids make no significant differences in the performance levels of learning skills between two groups.
