A Needs Analysis for the Development of Occupational Korean Textbooks for Foreign K-pop Idol Trainees

In the field of Korean language education, many studies have been conducted on Korean for occupational purposes, but few studies have appeared on foreign K-pop idol trainees. The purpose of this study is to analyze the needs of foreign K-pop idol trainees to develop Korean language textbooks for occupational purposes. The researchers reviewed prior studies related to the development of Korean language textbooks for occupational purposes. After that, a survey was conducted to obtain materials for the development of Korean language textbooks for the subjects. The number of participants in this survey is 39 including foreign K-pop idols, Korean K-pop idols and trainees, entertainment workers, and Korean language teachers. The study found a clear demand for Korean language textbooks for foreign K-pop idol trainees. These findings could be of practical help in developing Korean language textbooks for foreign K-pop idol trainees.
