Effects of Happiness and Happiness Growth on Employment Status and Self-Efficacy in People with Hearing impairment

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 행복과 행복성장이 청각장애인의 고용상태, 자기효능감에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 것이었다. 연구방법: 연구대상은 장애인고용패널 2차 웨이브 조사에 참여한 청각장애인 성인 230명으로 구성되었다. 청각장애인의 행복과 행복성장은 무조건부 잠재성장모형을 사용하여 분석되었고, 행복과 행복성장의 고용상태, 자기효능감에 미치는 효과는 조건부 잠재성장모형으로 분석되었다. 연구결과: 본 연구의 결과들은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인구·사회·경제적 변인(연령, 결혼 여부, 학력, 사회경제적 지위, 중증여부)은 고용 상태, 자기효능감과 유의한 관계가 없었다. 성별은 고용상태와 유의한 관계가 있었으나, 자기효능감과 관계가 없었다. 둘째, 행복(초기값)은 고용상태를 유의하게 예측하였으나, 행복성장(변화율)은 유의하게 예측하지 못하였다. 셋째, 행복(초기값)과 행복성장(변화율)은 더 높은 자기효능감과 유의한 관계가 있었다. 본 연구의 결과들은 청각장애인의 행복이 높을수록 시간 경과에 따라 고용상태와 자기효능감의 개선에 이를 수 있음을 제안한다. 더욱이 시간 경과에 따른 점진적 행복성장은 향상된 자기효능감과 유의한 관계가 있었다. 결론: 이 결과들은 청각장애인의 맥락에서 행복과 행복성장을 증진하는 것의 잠재적 이득을 이해하는 것에 기여한다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of happiness and happiness growth on employment status and self-efficacy in people with hearing impairment. Method: Participants of this study were consisted of 230 people with hearing impairment who participated in the Disability Employment Panel’s second wave. Happiness and happiness growth were analyzed using an unconditional latent growth model, and the effects of happiness and happiness growth on employment status and self-efficacy were analyzed using a conditional latent growth model. Results: The findings of the present study showed the following. First, demographic, social, and economic variables(age, marital status, education, socioeconomic status, and severity of symptom) had no significant effects on employment status and self-efficacy. Gender had a significant effect on employment status, but had not effect on self-efficacy. Second, initial level of happiness significantly predicted employment status, but the rate of happiness growth did not. Third, higher initial level of happiness and the rate of happiness growth were associated with greater self-efficacy. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that higher level of happiness could lead to improvements in employment status and self-efficacy over time. Furthermore, gradual happiness growth over time appears to be associated with enhanced self-efficacy. These findings contribute to understanding the potential benefits of promoting happiness and happiness growth in the context of hearing impairment.
