본 연구의 목적은 TV광고를 활용한 마인드 맵 프로그램이 정신지체아동의 어휘력에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 수행되었다. 정신지체아동 2명을 대상으로 TV광고를 활용한 마인드 맵 프로그램을 12주 동안 40분간 24회기 적용하였다. 본 연구결과에서 정신지체아동의 수용과 표현어휘력이 향상되었다. 품사에 있어서 명사, 동사, 그리고 형용사의 증가에 영향을 미쳤는데, 특히 수용어휘력에서 형용사 발달에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 정신지체아동의 흥미를 자극할 수 있는 TV의 광고를 활용한 언어지도가 수용 및 표현어휘력 발달에 영향을 미쳤음을 시사하고 있다.
Mind map strategy may be one language teaching method to expand thought which is related with language development. The children with mental retardation have generally lots of problems in language development. Vocabulary ability is an important developmental stage to learn social language fluently. The purpose of this study was to illustrate the effects of the mind map strategy with TV advertisement to develop vocabulary ability for the children with mental retardation. Two mentally retarded children participated in this study. Twenty four target vocabularies which were selected from TV advertisement were applied for this study. Pre- and post-test were utilized to compare the effects of the mind map strategy with TV advertisement to develop vocabulary ability. The results of this study were that: (a) the mind map strategy with TV advertisement was effective to develop receptive vocabularies for children with mental retardation; and (b) the mind map strategy with TV advertisement was effective to develop expressive vocabularies for children with mental retardation. In the part of speech, this strategy was most influenced to an adjective rather than noun and verb. Therefore, this study concluded that the mind map strategy with TV advertisement was effective to develop receptive and expressive vocabularies for children with mental retardation.
