중도(重度) 정신지체 학생의 음악적 능력에 관한 연구

Analytical Research on Musical Ability for Students with Severe and Profound Mental Retardation

이 연구는 중도 정신지체학생의 음악적 능력 분석에 관한 연구로 중도정신지체와 경도의 음악적 능력을 비교 분석하고, 중도 정신지체학생의 음악적 능력 중 강점과 약점을 찾아내어 특수교육 현장의 교사들에게 제공함으로써 효율적인 음악과 교수-학습활동이 이루어 질 수 있도록 하기 위한 연구이다. 이 연구를 위하여 정신지체 특수학교 3개교의 재학생을 509명을 대상으로 교사들을 통하여 음악적 능력 검사를 실시하고, 통계 처리하여 결과를 분석하였더니, 중도 정신지체 학생의 음악적 능력이 상대적으로 낮아 음악적 능력은 지능과 관련이 있었고, 발달은 연령과 관련이 있었으며 경도(輕度) 정신지체 학생보다 지체되었고 초등부 저학년 시기에 빠른 발달을 보였다. 또한 정신지체 특수학교에는 남녀비율은 남학생이 높게 나타났으며 음악적 능력은 여학생이 더 높았다.중도(重度) 정신지체 학생의 음악적 능력 중 강점은 언어수용, 운동지각, 악기연주활동 등이며, 약점은 노래 만들기, 노래 부르기, 시지각 등이었다. 중도(重度) 정신지체 학생의 특성을 고려한 음악과 교수-학습방법의 개발과 함께 활동의 수준도 이들의 능력에 맞도록 재편성하여야 한다. 따라서 중도(重度) 정신지체 학생의 특성을 고려한 음악과 교수-학습 방법의 개발과 함께 활동의 수준도 이들의 능력에 맞도록 재편성되어야 하며 장애 특성에 맞는 다양한 자료 개발이 필요하며, 학생들을 음악활동에 적극적으로 참여시키려는 노력이 필요하다.

This study researches the musical ability of students with severe and profound mental retardation to provide effective teaching-learning activity to music teachers. For this study, 764 students with mental retardation in three special school were tested for musical ability. The statistics for 509 collected test papers were as follows. The musical ability was higher in mild and moderate than severe and profound mental retardation. So, musical ability was related with intelligence quotient(IQ), and music advancement was related with age. In the special schools of mental retarded were more students with severe and profound retardation than mild and moderate mental retardation. There were two times more male than female. Students with severe and profound mental retardation did well in communication, perceived movement and in using instruments but showed low ability in making songs, singing and perceived sight. Therefore, there is a need for the development of methods of teaching-learning activity for severe and profound mental retardation, developing manifold activities material. Music teachers also need to make more efforts to bring out active participation of students with severe and profound mental retardation in music activities.
