The education of faith and identity in Jewish families

현재 우리 사회의 부모는 유교적 전통에 바탕을 둔 공동체주의와 서구적 전통에 바탕을 둔 자유주의 사이를 오락가락하면서 자녀의 삶에 대한 목표와 설정, 자녀에 대한 교육 방법 등에 있어서 일관성을 유지하지 못하고 통제와 자유사이를 헤매고 있고, 부모의 자녀에 대한 가정교육 내용과 자녀가 학교, 미디어 등으로부터 배우는 내용 사이의 큰 격차로 인하여 부모 자녀 간 갈등이 깊어지고 있으며, 급격한 사회문화의 변화는 부모 자녀 간 경험의 단절을 초래하여 가치관, 언어, 행동, 습관 등에 있어서 심각한 갈등과 소외 현상을 빚고 있다. 유대인은 인간이 무엇을 해야 하는가를 가르치기 전에 먼저 하나님께서 우리에게 하신 일을 알리는 것을 교육 목표로 세웠는데, 현재 우리 사회의 가정도 교육에 대한 이러한 인식의 변화가 필요하고, 가정교육의 분명한 목적을 설정하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다. 현재 우리 사회 교육의 근본 문제를 해결하려면 공교육의 문제도 해결되어야 하지만, 사회의 가장 기본적 단위인 가정에서부터 부모가 자녀에게 바른 가치관을 심어주어야 하고, 교회는 가정의 부모에게 말씀에 기초한 기독교 세계관을 가질 수 있도록 도와야 한다. 결국 우리 사회의 기독교 가정이 먼저 성경적 교육관을 회복하여 가정과 교회가 바로 설 때 우리 사회의 가정, 국가, 세상이 밝고 건강하게 변화할 것이다.

Currently, parents in our society fluctuate between Confucian communityism and liberalism based on Western tradition, inconsistent goals and settings for their children's lives, and control and freedom. Jews first set an educational goal to inform us of what God has done before teaching us what humans should do. Currently, families in our society also need this change in their perception of education, and it is most important to set a clear purpose for home education. To solve the fundamental problem of our social education, the problem of public education must also be solved, but parents must instill the right values in their children from the family, the most basic unit of society, and the church must help parents have a Christian worldview based on words. In the end, when the Christian family in our society first restores the biblical view of education and the family and church stand upright, the family, country, and world in our society will change bright and healthy.
