During the Covid 19 pandemic, an exponential growth of streaming platforms such as Youtube has considerably accelerated the use of bilingual subtitles for wider audiences from different linguistic backgrounds. This article investigates Korean undergraduate students’ perceptions of the use and education of bilingual subtitling through a questionnaire and discusses educational implications on the audiovisual translator training. Results showed that approximately 70% of the respondents think that bilingual subtitling is more useful to learn English than monolingual subtitling and that learning bilingual subtitling is necessary, although more than 50% of them think it is more difficult than monolingual subtitling. This result confirms the need to teach bilingual subtitles in an audiovisual translation class and it offers educational implications.
