This study aimed to observe the eye movement patterns of elementary school students as they read animated movie posters, using an eye-tracker. The goal was to devise strategies for effectively translating these posters to capture children’s visual attention. The experiment showed that child readers paid more attention to images than texts, and their gaze stayed mainly in the center and top of the posters, focusing on the images. It was confirmed that the visual elements that influence leading the gaze to the text are the position of the text and the image. The text was noticed when it was placed at the top and middle, and when the background and image were simple or the texts was located near the main visual and characters. Based on these findings, we proposed three strategies for translating animated movie posters to better capture the visual attention of young readers.
