The purpose of this paper is to analyze how a translator implements the literary effects creatively so that he/she does not damaged original literary texts. This study especially evaluats the translation of Korean-English novel literature considering the translatability and pure language. To attain this end, this paper compared Deborah Smith's The Vegetarian with Han Kang's The Vegetarian. The results of the analysis have six categories: words, sentence, connotation, figurative expression, cultural idioms and poetic language. A good translation is not just a simulation that provides superficial information of the original text, but a realization of the ‘pure language' inherent in the original text in the target language through the work of realizing what is symbolically embodied. To translate considering literary and aesthetic effects, translators should possess fluent language skills for both source and target languages. Much more importantly, a translator ought to possess the capability to convey literary and aesthetic effects based the translatability and pure language as well as critical thinking.
