Objectives Shoulder impingement syndrome (SIS) is one of the common diseases that cause chronic shoulder pain, and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have been conducted and published around the world. This study aims to conduct a systematic review (SR) and meta-analysis (MA) of relevant RCTs to determine the effect of manual acupuncture treatment on SIS. Methods This study will cover MEDLINE, CENTRAL, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and five Korean databases, and risk will be assessed using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool. Results The most important outcome measure will be pain scales, and the secondary outcome will contain shoulder function, disability, and range of motion (ROM) of shoulder joint. Conclusions This study is expected to provide a basis for judging the effectiveness and safety of manual acupuncture treatment for SIS.
