초상화 조각은 조각 분류의 중요한 부분이다. 초상화 조각은 오랜 역사를 가지고 있지만 중국에서의 기원은 비교적 늦다. 서양의 도상학이 중국에 소개되면서 중국 고유의 예술과 문화가 서양 조각과 결합하여 중국 미학에 부합하는 초상화 조각을 만들어낸다. 조각예술의 예술적 개념은 제한된 시간 공간을 무한한 시간 공간으로 확장하고, 작은 공간을 뚫고 무한한 큰 공간을 탐험하는 것이다. 예술의 미학적 느낌으로부터 그리고 생각을 불러일으키는 삶의 감각, 역사의 감각을 촉발한다. 본 논문은 중국 유명 조각가들의 예술적 개념을 탐구하고 초상화 조각의 예술적 개념 조건과 가상 환경과 실제 환경의 관계를 분석하였다. 가상 이미지는 실제 이미지의 승화이고, 가상 이미지는 실제 이미지의 목적을 반영할 수 있어 작품의 미적 효과가 예술적 취향에서 향상될 수 있으며, 가상 환경은 예술적 구상의 영혼이다. 가상환경의 이미지를 보다 잘 전달하기 위해서는 실제 사물을 매개로 한 구체적인 이미지에 대해 가상환경이 수행되어야 한다.
