This study is on the two senses of ‘child-centeredness’ in order to escape from the defects of ‘child-centred education’ that has been seen as the better education when dubbed as the ‘progressive’. For this, two main notions of child-centered have been analyzed so as to establish them as ‘centeredness of the procees’ and ‘real interests of the child’. Seen in the above arguments, these two are contrasted and sometimes confused each other but not often compromised. The paper has also demonstrated that the child-centered education has some contradictory aspect when child-centered education has taken the altruistic feature seriously as its own. Whatever taken theoretically and practically, education should be chosen one of the two if we try to improve children’s happy lives the present and the future.
