A Study on the Correlation between Intellectual Virtue and Moral Virtue: through the Perspectives of Aristotle, Rousseau, and Dewey

The purpose of this study is to elucidate the role of intellectual virtue and the relationship between intellectual virtue and moral virtue. The status and function of intellectual virtue vary among different philosophical frameworks, yet they share a common ground in their capacity to enhance and serve as indispensable elements for moral virtue. While intellectual virtue and moral virtue are inseparable in reality, they cannot be mixed in terms of concept and role. By reaffirming the role and importance of intellectual virtue, this study confirms that intellectual virtue and moral virtue must be promoted in parallel in our education, as we strive for virtuous excellence.
