The Impact of Risk Perception on International Travel Attitudes and Behavioral Intentions in the Post-Pandemic Era

The purpose of this study is to empirically verify the effect of overseas travel risk perception on overseas travel attitudes and behavioral intention, and to provide implications for the post-pandemic era. In accordance with the purpose of this study, data from 414 respondents obtained through Google Forms were used for analysis, and the research hypotheses were verified through factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that, first, among the five factors of risk perception (disease risk, physical risk, social risk, functional risk, and economic risk), only social risk had a negative effect on attitude. Second, among the five factors of risk perception, social risk and economic risk had a negative effect on behavioral intention to travel abroad. Third, international travel attitude had a significant positive effect on behavioral intention to travel abroad. The results of this study show that disease risk and physical risk no longer have a negative impact on international travel attitudes and behavioral intentions, and social risk has a greater impact. It also shows that attitudes toward international travel have a direct and significant impact on international travel behavioral intentions. In summary, the results show that social risks and attitudes have a direct and strong influence on individuals' decisions to travel abroad.
