The Evolution of China’s Security Concept: From Responding to Shaping

The year of 2012 should be the milestone in the evolution of China’s security concept. It seems to the outside world that China has changed its security concept and adopted an assertive attitude towards its neighboring countries and the United States in safeguarding national interests. To some extent, the clear-cut security concept in recent years has made worrisome response from relevant countries. Action and counter-action among these countries have already impacted on the evolution of security situation in this region. How can we view these changes in China’s security concept? What is its implication on the future region system construction? Can the re-balancing strategy by the United States get the anticipated result? This paper will give a study on these issues.
