트랜스아이덴티티 스토리텔링의 재현 양식 연구

A Study of Representational Modalities in Trans-identity Storytelling: Focusing on the Film “Queen’s Crochet”

이 연구는 영화 서사 이론으로서 트랜스아이덴티티 스토리텔링의 가치를 제고하고, 정체성 재현의 서사 양식으로서 지니는 특성과 표현 방식을 규명하고자 한다. 트랜스아이덴티티 스토리텔링은 기존 사회의 체계를 초월하여 자신의 내면에 사람들의 내면적 정체성은 그 특수성으로 인해 사회로부터 ‘차이’로 인식되며 억압받는 경향이 자리한다. 이에 현대 사회의 차이에 관한 부정적인 인식을 재구성하고, 차이를 활용한 정체성 재현을 구상하는 트랜스아이덴티티 스토리텔링의 양식을 설계하고자 한다. 그리하여 차이에 관해 전향적 인식을 보여준 스튜어트 홀(Stuart Hall)의 이론을 배경으로 차이를 적극적으로 드러내는 동시에 기존 사회의 보편적 체계와 타협하는, 즉 차이와 절합의 서사 양식을 고안하였다. 이러한 트랜스아이덴티티 스토리텔링의 재현 양식을 증명하기 위해, 다큐멘터리 영화 <퀸의 뜨개질>의 정체성 재현 방식을 분석하였다.

This study seeks to enhance the value of Trans-identity Storytelling as a film narrative theory and to identify its characteristics and modes of representation as a narrative form of identity representation. Trans-identity Storytelling is a form of narrative that captures the narrative process of beings who are trying to transcend the existing system of society and shift their identities to match their inner selves. The inner identity of people who are trying to switch identities tends to be perceived as “different” by society and oppressed due to its specificity. Therefore, we would like to design a Trans-identity Storytelling form that reconstructs the negative perception of difference in modern society and envisions the recreation of identity by utilizing difference. Against the backdrop of Stuart Hall’s theory, which demonstrated a proactive awareness of difference, we devised a narrative of difference and conjuncture, which actively reveals difference while compromising with the universal system of existing society. To demonstrate this form of Trans-identity Storytelling, we analyze the representation of identity in the documentary film “Queen’s Crochet”.
