‘우주와 별의 종말’을 통해 고찰해 본 종말론에 관한 물리학적 전망

A Physical Perspective of Eschatology Contemplated through ‘the End of the Universe and the Stars’

종말과 내세에 관한 여러 개념들은 인간 세상에 존재하는 거의 모든 종교 안에서 공통적으로 발견된다. 하지만 종말과 내세에 대한 인간 차원의 논의는 예수 그리스도를 비롯한 극소수의 현자 내지는 성인들의 가르침과 증언에 의존해서 겨우 전개되고 있을 뿐이다. 다만 과학기술의 발전에 따라 인간의 주위 환경인 우주와 물질세계의 특성에 대해 더 잘 이해함으로써 종말과 내세에 대한 일종의 유비적 힌트를 찾아 나가는 데에 약간의 도움을 받을 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문은 그리스도교적 종말론의 여러 개념을 설명하거나 그 개념들의 과학적 진위 여부를 따지려고 시도하지 않는다. 그 대신 창조주 하느님에 의해 주어지는 물질세계의 종말 현상을 과학적으로 분석함으로써 그 물질세계의 종말로부터 그리스도교적 종말론의 죽음 개념을 유비적으로 설명하고자 한다. 그래서 본 논문은 지난 100년간의 현대 물리학의 연구 결과들을 통해 우주와 별의 시작과 진화와 종말을 요약 정리한다. 그리고 이러한 별과 우주의 운명이 그리스도교적 종말론에서 설명하는 인간 및 이 세상의 운명과 유사하다는 점을 밝힘으로써, 그리스도교적 종말론의 관점이 물질세계의 관점과 충분히 유사하다는 점을 명확하게 드러낸다.

Many concepts about the end of time and the afterlife are common to nearly every religion in the human world. However, the human discussion of the end of life and the afterlife has been limited to the teachings and testimonies of a few sages and saints, including Jesus Christ. However, with the advancement of science and technology, a better understanding of the nature of the universe and the material world around us may assist in the search for some sort of analogical hints about the end of time and the afterlife. This paper does not attempt to explain various concepts of Christian eschatology or to determine their scientific authenticity. Instead, it seeks to analogically explain the Christian concept of death from the end of the material world by scientifically analyzing the phenomenon of the end of the material world as given by God the Creator. Thus, this paper summarizes the beginning, evolution, and end of the universe and the stars through the findings of modern physics over the past 100 years. By showing that the fate of the stars and the universe is similar to one of humans and the world as described in Christian eschatology, I hope to make it clear that the perspective of Christian eschatology is sufficiently similar to the one of the material world.
