보편 교회와 개별 교회의 관계성에 관한 교회론적 연구

Ecclesiastical study on the relationship between universal Church and particular church: Centering on Episcopal Conference in the Church documents

오늘날 교회론적 담론의 주제는 친교(communio)이다. 시노달리타스를 살아가는 교회는 경청을 통하여 개별 신자들의 목소리를 듣고 복음의 메시지를 식별하여 전할 의무를 지닌다. 강렬한 외침 속에서 교회는 시대적 징표를 찾고 하느님의 뜻을 밝힐 사명을 지니고 있다. 초대 교회는 예수 그리스도가 선포한 복음을 삶의 준거와 기준으로 삼았으며, 신앙인들이 교회 공동체 안에서 하느님 사랑을 깨닫고 형제애를 실천할 수있도록 인도하였다. 하지만 박해 시기를 거쳐 제국의 종교가 된 그리스도교는 제도화된 교회가 되었고, 그 과정에서 사랑에 근거한 공동체적 친교는 영적인 범주를 넘어 법과 규율의 준수를 우선시하는 공동체가 되었다. 그레고리오 7세 교황에 이르러 교회는 제도적 틀이 온전히 마련되면서 교회의 ‘중앙집권화’가 확고해졌으며, 교회 역사 안에서 교회의 본질적 특성으로 인식되었다. 쇄신과 적응, 과거로의 회귀를 표방했던 제2차 바티칸 공의회는 ‘세상 속으로의 교회’가 되기 위하여 사목적-통교적 교회론에 대해서 논의하였다. 보편 교회와 개별 교회의 관계성에 대한 신학이 진전을 이루었지만, 보편주의라는 큰 틀에서 개별 교회의 권한은 제한적이었고 이는 오늘날까지 교회론적 논증이 지속된 계기가 되었다. 본 논문은 제2차 바티칸 이후 계속된 보편 교회와 개별 교회의 논쟁을 다루기 위하여, 교회 문헌들을 중심으로 교회론적 분석을 시도한다. 이와 같은 작업은 논쟁의 본질과 핵심을 파악하게 할 것이며, 오늘날의 교회에 방향성을 제시할 것이다. 또한 주교회의의 권한에 대한 신학적 분석을 통하여 보편 교회와 개별 교회가 이룰 수 있는 친교의 가능성을 고찰한다.

Today, the subject of the ecclesiastical discourse is communion. The Church who is living in Sinodality, has the responsibility to listen to each faithful’s voice, to discern the message of the Gospel and to preach it through careful listening. The Church has the mission to seek the sign of the era and lighten up God’s will in this loud cry. The Early Church measured the Gospel as their touchstone of living standard and criteria, and led the believers to understand God’s love, to practice fraternity in the church community. But, after the persecution period, Christianity became the imperial religion, and an institutionalized Church. During that process, communal communion, which is based on love, became a communion which give priority to obey the law and rules, that passed the spiritual dimension. Reaching at Pope Gregory VII, the Church prepared wholly her systematic form, crystalized “centralization of power”, and recognized it as her essential characteristic in the Church history. The 2nd Vatican Council, adopted a slogan of renewal, adaption and return to the past, discussed pastoral-communion ecclesiology to be ‘the Church within the World’. The theology on the relationship between universal Church and particular church made a progress, but in the big frame of universalism, the power of each church is limited, and this became the continuing chance of ecclesiastical argument. This study tries ecclesiastical analysis centering on the Church documents to deal with the disputes of universal Church and particular church, which is continued after the 2nd Vatican Council. Such a work helps to figure out the nature and the core of the disputes, and will propose the direction of today’s church. Also, through the theological analysis on Episcopal Conference power, consider the possibility of communion which universal Church and particular church can achieve.
