North Korea's Change and A Perspective of It's Policy Against South Korea

The purposes of study are to look into change of North Korea and it's policy against South during the last five decades since the division of the Korean peninsula. In addition to them, to devise an effective meauare to control North Korea is another purpose. This paper is composed of four chapters. In the first chapter I deals with the features of the North Korea strategy toword South Korea. In order to scrutinize the strategies of North Korea, it will be needed to divide the fifty years since the partition of the Korean peninsula into six periods: (1) the period of using physical forces, (2) the period of being offensive suing propaganda, (3) the period of suing “the Unified Front Strategy” to provoke a revolution in South Korean society, (4) the period employing dialogue, (5) the period of insisting on confederartion, (6) the period for building peaceful coexistence. The second chapter is to show the present three revolutionary forces of North Korea after Kim II Sung' s death. And the third chapter is to look out for the direction of change in North Korea' s strategy in the future. This study indicates that North Korea has changed its strategies against South Korea into coexistence and will operate a set of strategies to maintain its regime sagely. On the basis of this perspective, a desirable policy toword North Korea is proposed in the forth chapter. The policy includes restructuring the existing policy toword North Korea, rebuilding the measure of policy implementation, reconfirming the attitude being watchful against the North, reorganizing the relationship with the North. Conclusion of this thesis is that cooperation and effort for maintaining peace between the two Koreans is to be required as the condition for peaceful unification.
